3-Day Mountain Gorilla Trekking safari adventure in Uganda

This 3-day mountain gorilla trekking safari adventure in Uganda is a truly remarkable experience that promises unforgettable encounters with these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. In the charming southwestern region of Uganda lies the 331 square kilometers Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The place is famous for the endangered mountain gorillas, with over 1000 individuals, constituting a half of the current global population of mountain gorillas. Book a tour for African Safaris Holidays to witness these incredibly amazing apes in their undisturbed natural habitat. Capably navigate through the intricately dense and impenetrable forest that distinctly provides the park with its reminiscent name.

Additionally, Bwindi is nestled within the confines of the Albertine Rift Valley, and on altitudes, ranging from 1,160 to 2,607 meters above sea level. This enhances its conservation significance while creating a range of ecosystems conducive for various wildlife species. Bwindi hosts globally threatened wildlife species such as the chimpanzee, l’Hoest’s monkey and African elephant; birds such as African green broadbill, Grauer’s swamp warbler, Turner’s Eremomela, Chapin’s flycatcher and Shelley’s crimson-wing; and many butterfly species. Ensure that as you walk under the misty clouds above with anticipation, you admire the surrounding dense undergrowth and lush greenery.

As you venture deeper into the wilderness, each step brings you closer to encountering these gentle giants in their natural habitat. The thrill of catching a glimpse of a gorilla family, observing their playful interactions, and witnessing their sheer power and grace up close is a moment that words cannot fully capture. It is a humbling experience that fosters a deep connection with nature and a profound appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the animal kingdom.

Trekking with mountain gorillas is not just a physical journey through rugged terrain; it is a spiritual journey that allows you to witness the untamed beauty of the natural world and forge a bond with one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom. Prepare to be captivated, moved, and forever changed by the unparalleled experience of trekking with mountain gorillas in Uganda.

The breathtaking beauty of the lush forests, the gentle giants roaming freely in their natural habitat, and the connection you feel with these incredible creatures create memories that will stay with you forever. Therefore, besides gorilla trekking, the park offers you other activities such as a guided nature walk, bird watching and much more. You can also visit the neighboring communities, particularly interacting with the elusive yet remarkable Batwa for an immersive experience of their unique lifestyle. Bwindi is not only recognized for the aforementioned, but also as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is characterized by a humid, tropical climate. The average temperatures in the park generally range from around 7 to 20oC (45 to 68oF), with cooler temperatures prevalent at higher altitudes. The region experiences two distinct rainy seasons, the first from March to May and the second from September to November, resulting in heavier rainfall. The dry seasons occur from December to February and from June to August when the park sees reduced precipitation. The annual rainfall in the park averages between 1,400 and 1,900 millimeters.

While trekking with mountain gorillas provides an unparalleled safari adventure experience, it is crucial to ensure that our presence does not harm these endangered species or their fragile ecosystem. By supporting sustainable tourism practices, such as following the guidance of experienced guides, maintaining a safe distance from the gorillas, and respecting their natural behavior, we can help protect these majestic animals for future generations to enjoy.

Begin your day with an early delightful breakfast just prior to the timely arrival of your tour guide from African Safari Tour Holidays. The guide will transport you along with your tour luggage that may contain a non-flash digital camera, sweater, raincoat, jungle boots, sunglasses pants and others. It will be a 10-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Kisoro, Southwestern Uganda. On the way, ready yourself to identify the hundreds of species of trees, birds and insects for your own amusement. Additionally, you can view the magnificent landforms such as the hills and beaches. There will be a stopover at Mbarara where you will have a delicious lunch. After arriving at the destination, ensure to witness the beautiful sunset before checking in at your lodging. You can view the beautiful night sky before getting a delicious meal and some sleep for the rest of the cold night.
Ensure you are up very early again to grab your breakfast meal, and make sure that lunch, drinking water, hat, sun glasses, rain coat, and binoculars are packed. Meet your tour guide, who should ensure you reach the Park head offices before 7:30 AM. Upon arrival you will be briefed on the trekking rules by the park guides before they lead you through the dense forest. Trekking is usually eight hours at most, or could go for a full day if the gorillas unfortunately become difficult to track down. If eventually spotted, you can view these enchanting apes for not more than an hour as obliged by the Park authorities. During this time you will see a lot regarding their behavior such as hierarchy, territoriality and feeding among others. Afterwards, you will have a short guided village walk to the Batwa community, where you will have an in-person interaction with these remarkable people, and their unique lifestyles. Then, return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After your early morning breakfast, the tour guide will transfer you back to Kampala. During the journey, there will be a pause at the Equator along Masaka road. This is a geographical marvel marking the Earth's midpoint, offering a unique opportunity to straddle both hemispheres simultaneously. The vibrant cultural surroundings and informative displays enrich the visit, making it more than a mere geographic crossing and a memorable encounter with the planet's equatorial significance. At the same place, you will have your lunch, and you might also love to purchase souvenirs. Upon arrival in Kampala, the tour guide will transport you to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
