Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport you will be welcomed by our safari guide who will give you an overview of your 6 Days Best of Rwanda Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking safari and then embark on your journey to Kigali city tour. On the city tour you will visit several attractions like genocide memorial center, local markets among other destination. Following the city tour, you will have lunch at one of Kigali's local restaurants to taste local food before embarking on your journey to Volcanoes National Park. You'll see beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, rolling hills, and homes, as well as locals, on the way. Upon arrival at the park you will check in to your lodge for some refreshments before dinner and overnight stay.
Following an early breakfast, you will carry your packed lunch and head to the Kinigi Park headquarters for a briefing about dos and don’ts about gorilla trekking experience. Following the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 individuals and each group will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and an armed park ranger who is well conversant with the forest trails to accompany in your gorilla trekking experience. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park starts at 8:00am and usually lasts between 2 to 8 hours. During your gorilla trekking, you will come across a variety of bird species, wildlife animals, plant and tree species, and other primate species. Once the gorillas are located, you will have the opportunity to spend an hour in their natural habitat with them. During this time, you will be able to take pictures and record videos with a flash less camera, and also learn more about their habits and behaviors. Following your one-hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will hike back to the park headquarters, where you will meet your driver guide and make your way to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Following an early breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters for an overview regarding the guidelines and regulations about golden monkey trekking. After the briefing, you will begin your trek through the dense forest, which will take between 1  and 4 hours depending on the location of the golden monkeys, as they like to roaming from one location to another in search of food. After the golden monkeys are located, you will have an hour to spend with them in their natural habitat. During this time, you will be able to record videos, take pictures, learn more about their habits, behaviors, and way of life, and also witness some exciting moments as they jump from tree to tree for your safari.  Following your one-hour experience with the golden monkeys, you will hike back to the park headquarters, where you will meet your driver guide and make your transfer back to the lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you'll embark on a cultural tour through the nearby communities, visiting the Ibyi'wacu cultural village. You will have the chance to socialize with the locals; sample Kinyarwanda cuisine and beer made locally from bananas, and enjoy performances of Kinyarwanda dance, music, and drama by women as well as traditional storytelling. Following the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, check-out from the lodge and meet your safari guide to make your way to Lake Kivu, where you will take in breathtaking views of the dawn and morning breeze, among other things. After exploring the Lake you will embark on your4 to 5 hours drive to Nyungwe forest national park. On the way, you'll have a stopover for lunch as you also enjoy great views of the landscape, beautiful scenery, and hills, to mention a few.  Upon arrival at the park you will check in your lodge for some refreshments before having dinner and night stay.
Following an early breakfast, you will rendezvous with your safari guide and make your way to the park headquarters for the briefing on chimpanzee trekking experience. Following the briefing, you will be assigned a chimp group to trek with and a park guide with a extensive experience in forest trails. Depending on the chimpanzees' location, chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours. This is because, particularly during the dry season, they like to move deep into the forest in search of food. Once the chimpanzees are located, you can spend an hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you the chance to learn more about their habits, behaviors, and way of life. You can also take pictures and videos of the chimps to share with friends and family at home after safari. Following your one-hour encounter with the chimps, you will return to the park headquarters, meet your driver guide, and embark on your journey to the park for lunch. After lunch, you will embark on a thrilling guided nature walk or canopy walk 90 meters above the forest. The canopy walk is a fantastic activity that debuted in 2010, and Nyungwe National Park is the sole forest in East Africa that offers it. The activity begins at the Uwinka visitor center and proceeds through a massive forest across a steep and deep valley densely forested. The stunning canopy walk lasts approximately 2 hours and provides astonishing views of the forest canopy, birds, and butterflies, primates such as blue monkeys, l'hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and tree species, among others. Following the canopy walk, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
On your final day of your safari, you'll enjoy a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge, and then meet your safari guide for an exciting nature walk which involves a visit to the Gisakura tea estate. During the nature walk, you will have the opportunity to photographing the tea estate and the farmers harvesting tea. Following the nature walk, you will begin your journey to Kigali, stopping for lunch en route. Your driver will then drop you off at the international airport in Kigali, for your next flight.
