Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport you will be met by a representative from African safari Tour Holidays who will give you a briefing about your 6 Days Best of Rwanda Birding and Wildlife Safari. Following the briefing, you will depart for Akagera National Park for an evening birding excursion in search for over 500 different bird species. You will witness numerous bird species like Palearctic migrants like the Gallinago media, Falco naumanni, and Glareola nordmanni to mention but a few. You will also have a chance to observe number of wildlife species like elephants, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, lions, bushbucks, Topis, Oribis, water-buck, klipspringer, impala, and Cape eland. Following the game drive you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and embark on your full day bird watching in Akagera national park. You will witness numerous bird species including Amur falcon and Beaudouin's snake eagle Red-winged francolin, Blue-shouldered robin-chat, Booted eagle, Brown-chested lapwing, Crested barbet, Denham's bustard, Eleonora's falcon, Grasshopper buzzard, Northern brown-throated weaver, Souza's shrike, Papyrus gonolek among others. You will drive back to the park’s headquarters for lunch following a bird watching excursion. After lunch you will board a boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will have an opportunity to witness numerous wildlife species and several bird species that you missed on a game drive like Gallinago media, Falco naumanni Denham's bustard, Eleonora's falcon, Grasshopper buzzard, Northern brown-throated weaver, Souza's shrike among others. After the boat cruise you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Following a relaxed breakfast, Set out for the long drive from Akagera National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali. On this tour, you will see charming rolling farmland and historic farmhouses.
Wake up very early, have your breakfast and head to one of Rwanda's top bird locations, Nyungwe National Park, for a chance to witness over 310 different bird species. You will drive for a full day bird watching excursion where you will encounter with numerous bird species like Archer's Robin-chat, Red-throated Alethe, Purple-breasted and Blue-headed, Kungwe Apalis, Ruwenzori Apalis, Alehe poliophrys, Batis diops, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Ruwenzori Batis, Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, Stripe-breasted Tit Parus fasciiventer, Caprimulgus ruwenzorii, among others. Following a full day bird watch you will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, you will transfer to northwest Rwanda in Ruhengeri for Lake. Along the way you will pass via numerous stunning scenery, evergreen fauna and the rolling landscape. Upon arrival at Lake Kivu you will have a chance to witness numerous bird species like Common Waxbill, Red-chested Sunbirds, Hadada Ibis, Crimson-rumped Waxbill, Scarlet-chested, Spectacled Weaver, Holub's Golden Weaver, and Little Bee-eater among others. After your birding experience along the banks of Lake Kivu you will have lunch along the way before embarking on your transfer to Kigali International airport to catch your flight back home.
