The journey begins in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, where you will be greeted by your guide and driven to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The drive itself is a scenic adventure, taking you through rolling hills and lush landscapes, giving you a taste of the natural beauty that awaits you. Once you arrive at the park, you’ll settle into your accommodation and prepare for the incredible days ahead.
The Gorilla Habituation & Wildlife Safari is a unique experience that allows you to spend four hours in the company of a gorilla family. Unlike the one-hour gorilla trekking experience, where visitors observe gorillas from a distance, habituation allows for a more intimate and immersive encounter. You’ll have the opportunity to witness their daily activities, from feeding and playing to grooming and resting. Starting from the vibrant city of Kigali, you will be immersed in the rich biodiversity that Rwanda has to offer. The highlight of this Days Uganda Gorilla Habituation, Chimpanzee & Wildlife safari is undoubtedly the opportunity to engage in gorilla habituation, a unique experience that allows you to spend more time with these majestic creatures and witness their natural behaviors up close.
On arrival you will be picked from Kigali International Airport to begin your journey to Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park passing via the Genocide museum and also have Kigali city tour. The journey to Bwindi from Rwanda is worthwhile since it offers breathtaking vistas of thousands of rolling hills covered by evergreen fauna. After entering Uganda at the Katuna or Chanika border, you will make a stopover in Kabale town near Katuna for lunch before continuing on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you spend the night.
You will get up early, have breakfast and make your way to the park headquarters to meet other visitors for briefing regarding the dos and don'ts on gorilla habituation safari. Following the briefing, you will embark on a guided forest trip with researchers, trackers and park ranger guides to observe the unhabituated mountain gorillas. You might come across a number of birds, other creatures, and primates in the jungle during your hike. After locating the gorillas, you will spend four hours observing their behaviors, taking pictures, and recording videos. You will be able to watch and listen as researchers attempt to acclimate gorillas, and if it's feasible, you may be asked to help out by gathering samples, identifying group members, placing calls, and much more.
Following breakfast, you will travel to western Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for lunch. After a little downtime, you'll go on an evening game drive into Kasenyi's savannah plains, where you might view buffalo, elephants, antelopes, and larger species like lions and leopards. Following the game drive you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Following an early breakfast, take a drive to the Kasenyi region on the northern side of Queen Elizabeth National Park to seek for wild animals such as water buck Uganda kobs, buffalos, and wild cats, as well as savanna birds and several antelope species. You will depart for Kibale Forest National Park after lunch, arriving at your lodge that in late evening.
Following breakfast, you will be taken to the Kibale National Park headquarters in Kanyakyu, where you will meet up with other trekkers for a briefing before going on a chimpanzee trek. A knowledgeable ranger or guide will lead you on a guided primate walk through Kibale Forest National Park. This forest offers the chance to go to one of the chimpanzees' habituated communities and spend an hour watching and taking pictures of them. Along with forest birds, Kibale National Park is home to eleven more kinds of primates. Following your chimpanzee hike, drive back to the lodge to have lunch. You will drive to Bigodi wetland for a chance to witness numerous wildlife species in the sanctuary. You will also visit the community living around the wetland to support them in their activities by purchasing the products. Return back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will travel to Lake Bunyonyi to unwind before continuing on journey to Kigali. Lake Bunyonyi is one of three lava-damaged lakes that developed when lava from one of the volcanoes blocked a river route, forcing water to flow back and filling the area to form Lake Bunyonyi. Because there are so many small birds in this area, the term "bunyonyi” has local meaning (small birds) . According to reports, Lake Bunyonyi is the second-deepest lake in East Africa and the deepest lake in Uganda. People come to Lake Bunyonyi because of its beauty, and it's among the greatest places to unwind after a strenuous safari.
After breakfast, you are free to explore the lake and its surrounding hills. You can choose to either go on a thrilling historical canoe trip around a different island in the lake. You will, visit Punishment Island, where girls who gave birth before marriage were thrown to die. This is a full-day adventure that you will undoubtedly enjoy. You can also trek one of the hills surrounding Lake Bunyonyi. Drive to the Katuna Border after participating in any optional activities, and then proceed to Kigali by either a late flight or, at your own expense, a post-tour hotel.
