The park’s relatively small size of 370 square kilometers makes it convenient for visitors to explore various parts of the park in a relatively short period of time. Lake Mburo National Park provides opportunities for observing breathtaking wildlife safari, birdwatching activities, boat safaris on Lake Mburo, and taking nature walks. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including impalas, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs, hippos, elephants, hyenas, crocodiles, topis, and numerous bird species, with over 300 bird species recorded. The recorded bird species include the African finfoot, shoebill stork, and the African fish eagle among others. The park also has various reptiles, including crocodiles, snakes and lizards

The park is renowned for its walking safaris, allowing visitors to explore the area on foot with a knowledgeable park guide. It has beautiful Savannah areas, characterized by acacia trees and grassy plains. This is better experienced while riding on a bicycle. The landscape is also adorned with numerous lakes and papyrus swamps. With a tropical climate, the park experiences distinct wet and dry seasons. The wet season typically spans from March to May and from September to November, hence experiencing higher rainfall.

In contrast, the dry season occurs from June to August and from December to February, leading to drier vegetation, and wildlife congregates around water sources. Lake Mburo National Park in Uganda generally experiences mild and consistent temperatures throughout the year due to its location near the equator. The average temperatures typically range from around 14 to 27oC (57 to 81oF). It is important to note that temperatures may vary slightly depending on the specific time of year and local weather conditions. You are advised to bring clothing suitable for a tropical climate, with light and breathable fabrics.

Arise early in the morning for your breakfast meal, then meet your tour guide who also doubles as the driver for briefing and pick up. Start your 4-5 hour journey to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. En-route, make a stopover at the Equator crossing along Masaka road. Take as many selfies as possible for this remarkable experience. Here you will have your lunch, before proceeding to your destination. You should excite your senses by watching the various landforms and wildlife species while feeling the sweet atmosphere along the road. Upon your late afternoon arrival at Lake Mburo, your tour guide will take you to the park offices to facilitate your access to the park. Then you will embark on a guided evening/night game drive. It will be a great opportunity to see some of the nocturnal wildlife such as the leopards, hyenas, mongoose, jackals, civets, bushbabies, bush pigs and nightjar birds. Later, the driver guide will take you to your lodge, where you can check in, unwind, have dinner and overnight.
After your early morning breakfast you will embark on a 2-3 hour game drive in the park. During this time you will be able to sight hyenas, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, elands, impalas, leopards, reedbucks, topis and many bird species. After this, you will return to your lodge to enjoy lunch while you relax. Your tour guide will then drive you to Lake Mburo for a 3-hour afternoon boat cruise. On the boat you will view the hippos, crocodiles and various water birds. You can also engage in a cycling tour. Then your tour guide will drive you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight sleep.
Wake up as early as 6:00 AM to a leisurely breakfast before you meet your tour guide. Check-out of the lodge and capture more memorable moments with photos. Ensure you begin the return journey to Kampala/Entebbe with an exciting game drive through the park, observing early risers and other species you may have missed the previous day. During the journey, make a stopover at the Equator crossing on Masaka road. Take as many photos of yourself while standing on two hemispheres. Buy souvenirs before heading straight to Kampala/Entebbe, concluding your 3-days tour.
