After the briefing you will be allocated experienced hiking guides to start your hiking safari. You will start hiking passing through Bisoke and then navigate your way up to Karisimbi volcano. The hike is strenuous and steep, taking approximately 7 to 8 hours to reach a summit of approximately 4,705 meters above sea level, where you will camp for the night.
Take advantage of an early breakfast before starting your descent and taking in the spectacular views of the caldera and the mountains of Nyiragongo, Nyamulagira, and Muhabura. Following the briefing you will be allocated a chimp group to trek and an armed park ranger to accompany you while trekking. Once you locate them you will have an hour to spend with them in their natural habits. Here you will be allowed to take photos and record videos to share with your friends back home. After a one with these amazing primates you will trek back to the starting point and meet your safari guide to embark on your drive back to the lodge for lunch. You will make your way back to the park for a canopy walk through the largest rainforest in East Africa after lunch. While on a canopy walk you will have wonderful vistas of many different monkey and bird species in the park. After 1 hour canopy walk safari you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Following breakfast, kick off the drive back to Kigali. The journey is a 5-6 hours’ drive with a stopover in Butare and Huye to visit the Rwanda National Museum and the Genocide Memorial.
