A 10-day Uganda Rwanda primate and wildlife safari is a remarkable adventure that surely promises unforgettable experiences. These two East African countries are renowned for their incredible biodiversity and rich natural landscapes. Starting in Uganda, you will have the opportunity to trek through lush forests to encounter endangered mountain gorillas and famous chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Upon your arrival, you will be met by African Safari Tour Holidays safari guide, who will brief you about the safari before departing for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest national park. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours and includes a detour at the Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking before continuing on to Masindi town for en-route lunch. Following lunch, you'll head to the park and drive straight to the top of the falls, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the cascade and surrounding landscape, among other attractions. You will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Today after an early breakfast, your safari guide will pick you from the lodge and depart for morning game drive in Murchison falls national park. While on the gaming drive you will be rewarded with fantastic views of the dawn, as well as opportunities to see several bird species, giraffes, waterbucks, lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Jackson's hartebeest, and Oribi, among other creatures. Following the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you'll go to the Paraa jetty landing site to take an intriguing boat ride to the base of the falls. The two-hour boat ride offers breathtaking views of hippos, crocodiles in the water, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes along the coast, and a variety of water birds, including fish eagles, cormorants, and kingfishers. Following the boat cruise your safari guide will transfer you to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Following an early breakfast, you will depart the lodge and meet your safari guide to make a transfer to Kibale forest national park. The park is popularly known as the primate capital of the world harboring over 13 primates species. While traveling to Kibale forest National Park you will have lunch on route and enjoy beautiful views of the Rwenzori mountain ranges, crater lakes, tea plantations, and traditional homesteads among other amazing things. Upon arrival at the park you will have dinner and overnight stay.
Today following an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, meet your safari guide, and make your way to the park headquarters for an orientation regarding the guidelines for chimpanzee trekking. Following the orientation, you will be assigned a chimp family to hike with and a park guide who is familiar with forest routes. Depending on where the chimpanzees spent the night before, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours. While trekking, you'll get excellent views of other primates like grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, birds, and plants. After the chimpanzees are located, you will be able to spend an hour in their natural habitat, during which you will be able to observe them eating, feeding, hunting, fighting, playing, mating, sleeping, and taking pictures and films with a flash-free camera.  Following your hour-long visit with the chimpanzees, you will make your way back to the park headquarters, where you will meet your driver and make the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda's second-largest national park. You will have lunch along the way as you encounter breathtaking views of tea plantations, and beautiful scenery. When you get there, you'll go on an evening wildlife drive to see creatures including warthogs, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, and sunset vistas, among others. Following the game you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Following an early breakfast, your safari guide will take you up from the lodge for a morning wildlife drive or lion tracking excursion in the Kasenyi plains. You will see a variety of wildlife during the game drive, including buffalo, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and Uganda kobs grazing in broad savannah plains. You will also see predators including lions, leopards, and hyenas searching for prey in the morning, as well as several bird species. Following the game drive you will transfer back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will depart for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which joins Lake George and Lake Edward. While on a boat cruise you will be able to view large groups of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, elephants, and warthogs, buffaloes, and wildlife species drinking water along the shores. You will also witness numerous bird species like bee-eaters, kingfishers, fish eagles, hornbills. Following the boat cruise you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Today following breakfast, you will depart from the lodge, meet your safari guide, and make your way to Bwindi impenetrable national park. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours’ drive through Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park.  Pass through Ishasha you will have an opportunity to witness the tree climbing lions that lie on the fig tree branches. Following the game drive, you will have lunch along the way and then proceed to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is home to the highest number of mountain gorilla in the world. Upon arrival you will check into your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.
Today after an early breakfast you will carry packed lunch and meet your safari guide to drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing about rules and regulations on gorilla trekking safari. Following the briefing, you will be divided into groups eight and each group will be assigned to a gorilla family to trek with, along with a park guide who is knowledgeable about the jungle's routes. Gorilla trekking takes between 30 minutes and 8 hours, depending on their location, as they like to roam around in quest of food. Trekking offers breathtaking views of many plant and tree types, bird species, and primates, including chimpanzees and hoest monkeys. After the mountain gorillas are located, you will get an hour to spend in their natural environment, during which you can record amazing moments, snap pictures, study their behaviors, and watch them play, eat, and nurse. Following your up-close and personal encounter with the gentle giants, you will hike back to the park headquarters, where your participation in gorilla trekking will earn you a certificate. From there, you will meet your safari guide to make your transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet your safari guide and transfer to Rwanda's northwest Volcanoes National Park. The trip takes roughly 3 to 4 hours, with stops at the Katuna border in Kabale. You will proceed to check into the lodge upon arriving at Volcanoes National Park, have lunch, and then unwind before going on an evening Ibyi'wacu cultural tour. You will have the opportunity to interact with the village residents during the Ibyi’wacu cultural tour, learning about their history, way of life, and culture as well as getting to taste local cuisine, visit homesteads and farmlands, hear their folktales, learn how to make beer from bananas, and take part in traditional entertainment, among other activities.
Following an early breakfast, you'll carry your packed lunch, meet your safari guide and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking experience. Following the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 individuals and then allocated a gorilla group to trek. You will be accompanied by an experienced safari guide who is well conversant with the trails in the forest. In Volcanoes National Park, trekking mountain gorillas can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on where they are located. Once you find them, you will have an hour to spend with them in their natural habits as well as witnessing them go about their daily lives—feeding, playing, nursing, grooming, resting, and taking photos and recording these amazing moments to share with friends and family back home after the safari. You will trek back to the park headquarters after your hour-long encounter with the mountain gorillas, where you will meet your driver guide and return to the lodge for dinner, leisure, and overnight stay.
Following a leisurely breakfast, you will depart the lodge and rendezvous with your safari guide to make your way to Kigali for a guided city tour. During the city tour, you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial center to learn about the 1994 genocide, the Kigali museum to learn more about Rwanda's history and culture, craft centers to buy souvenirs, and the Kimironko market to interact with local traders, among other attractions. Following the Kigali city tour, you'll have lunch at one of the restaurants before being dropped off at the international airport or being taken to one of the city's hotels.
