This 13- Day Uganda Wildlife & Birding Safari promises a lasting experience filled with breathtaking encounters, breathtaking landscapes, and a deeper appreciation for Uganda's incredible wildlife and birdlife. Prepare to be mesmerized as you explore the country’s’ diverse and rich wildlife reserves, national parks, and wetlands.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you’ll be welcomed by a representative from African safari tour holidays who will brief you about your 13-Day Uganda Wildlife & Birding Safari and then make your transfer to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you may begin your birding adventure by visiting the Botanical Gardens where you will encounter with various bird species like red faced barbet, African fin foot, rufous bellied heron, white-winged warbler, speckled mouse bird, yellow fronted tinker bird. After your birding excursion you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Following an early breakfast, you will depart your accommodation and drive for five hours through some of Uganda's most breathtaking scenery to get to Fort Portal, at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains, regarded as the "Gateway to Kibale Forest". You will have a lunch stopover in fort port town. You'll also make a stop at the Mabamba Wetland en route to witness the hidden species of the swamp including the rare shoebill, the blue-breasted bee-eater, and the malachite kingfisher, among other swamp creatures. You will reach the park in the late afternoon and check into your lodge, have dinner and a night rest.
Get up early in the morning, have breakfast and then embark on your journey to the park’s headquarters at Kanyanchu where you will be allocated an experienced birder ranger guide. You will embark on your journey to the forest where you'll look and listen for cherry greenbuls and whinchats, as well as predatory birds like the lizard buzzard and the western banded snake eagle. Following your birding safari you will return back to the lodge before departing for an afternoon chimpanzee tracking. After lunch, you will embark on an evening bird watching safari while keeping an eye out for some primates like red-tailed and colobus monkeys. Return to the lodge following the tracking for dinner and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you'll go on game drives to witness more of Uganda's wildlife species and fauna, including birds and large mammals like elephants, leopards, and lions. Upon arrival at the park you will have lunch before embarking on your evening bird watching excursion. You will encounter with numerous bird species on this evening birding session such as red-shouldered cuckoo shrike, white-winged tit, Nubian woodpecker, emerald spotted wood dove, red faced barbet, African fin foot, rufous bellied heron and also number of wildlife animals like Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, impalas among others.
Today is a full day bird watching safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have an early breakfast and then check out of your lodge for an early morning game drive in order to catch the early morning risers. You will come up close with a number of bird species like yellow fronted tinker bird, ruppells long-tailed starling, African spoonbills to mention a few. Following the drive you will return back to the lodge to have lunch before going for an afternoon boat cruise at Kazinga channel. The Kazinga Channel is home to a number of bird species like yellow-billed storks, African spoonbills and pelicans, among other species. You will then embark on a boat cruise alongside the Kazinga channel after lunch. Here expect to see a number of birds like yellow-billed storks, African spoonbills and pelicans, among others. Then you will depart back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay following the boat excursion.
After an early breakfast you will depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check out of your lodge and meet your tour guide to transfer to Bwindi. You will have a lunch stopover in Kabale as you enjoy the majestic views of the rolling landscape covered by evergreen fauna. You will reach the park in the late evening and check in to your accommodation before having dinner and a night rest.
Wake up early this morning, have your breakfast and do not forget to carry your packed lunch. Check out of your lodging and meet your safari guide to embark on your journey to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking experience. Following the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla group to trek. You will be accompanied by a park ranger guide who is well conversant with the forest trails. Once you locate the gorilla you will have an hour to spend with them to take pictures, record videos and also watch them as they go through their daily activities. You will trek back to the starting point following your gorilla experience and drive back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch you will go for an evening bird safari in Bwindi impenetrable forest, the forest is the best place for bird watching in Africa harboring over 450 different bird species. You will return back to the lodge after your birding excursion for dinner and night stay.
Today you will wake up early in order to wake up with the morning risers. You will have a rush breakfast, carry your packed lunch and then start your full day birding excursion in Bwindi Impenetrable forest. You will encounter numerous bird species like cuckoo shrikes, the fork-tailed drongo, the martial eagle, pink-footed puff backs, white-headed wood-hoopoes, tinker birds to mention a few. You will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay following your full day bird watching.
Today after an early breakfast you will continue your birding safari experience by going on wildlife drives, bush walks, and even mountain bike safaris in Lake Mburo National Park. You will come across various attractions like banana plantations, terrain hills to mention a few. On this journey you will witness why this area is called the ‘’Switzerland of Africa’’. You reach the park in late evening in time for dinner and overnight rest.
Birding in Lake Mburo is frequently a highlight of a Uganda birding safari vacation. Wake up very early, have breakfast and embark on your morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. The area also offers other activities like rafting, kayaking, and horseback riding among others. After a full day extrusion you will go to your overnight accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
