Kibale National Park, located in western Uganda, is famous for its population of chimpanzees. The park is home to over 1,450 chimpanzees, making it one of the best places in the world to observe these fascinating primates in their natural habitat. In addition to chimpanzees, Kibale National Park is also home to 12 other species of primates, as well as an abundance of other wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, and a wide variety of bird species making it a perfect destination for wildlife safari.

Queen Elizabeth National Park, also located in Uganda, is one of the most diverse ecosystems in Africa. The park is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles. This action-packed itinerary will take you on an unforgettable journey, exploring the rich and diverse wildlife of Rwanda and Uganda. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes, rich wildlife, and fascinating culture of these East African countries. Begin your adventure in Kibale National Park, known as the primate capital of the world, where you can trek through lush forests to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport you will be welcomed by our company representative who will give you a briefing about your 7 Days Best of Rwanda Uganda Wildlife and Primates Safari before embarking on your journey to Kibale forest national park in Uganda. The journey will take between 5 and 6 hours, so you must leave early. Enjoy the stunning scenery of Rwanda and Uganda as you travel. Remember to prepare all of your documentation, as you will be required to present them at the border crossing between Rwanda and Uganda. Having a yellow fever card is crucial. We'll stop for lunch at a suitable location along the way. The driver will make sure you arrive early enough to get a good night's sleep before going chimpanzee tracking the following day.
After an early breakfast, meet your driver guide and drive to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking. The briefing is led by a park guide and involves topics such as what to expect, and how to behave in their presence. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest national park lasts between 2 to 4 hours depending on their location because they like moving in search of food. Once chimps are located you will be allowed to spend an hour with them, here you will have an opportunity to take photos, record videos and also witness them as they go through their daily activities. Following an hour of witnessing the group, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. After lunch you will embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is a 2 to 3 hours’ drive. You will reach the park in the late afternoon and check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and drive to Kasenyi plains or Mweya sector for an early morning game drive. This morning game drive is intended to allow you to see nocturnal animals returning to their dens after hunting during the night. Expect to see leopards, hippos, hartebeests, lions, small primates, birds, and other early morning risers. Following the game drive you'll be driven back to the lodge for an early lunch and some relaxation before embarking on afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga channel. The Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Most of Queen Elizabeth's wildlife congregates here among these includes lions, buffalos, impala, hippos, to mention a few. It's among the greatest places in Africa to see birds as well. After the boat cruise you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up very early, have breakfast and embark on your second morning game drive with a chance to spot some of the animals you missed on the first game drive. This game drive will be conducted in Ishasha sector; here you will have a chance to witness the famous tree climbing lions. In addition to the tree climbing lions you will also spot a variety of wildlife animals like buffalos, elephants, impalas, zebras, bush bucks among others. Following the game drive you will embark on your journey to Volcanoes National park in Rwanda. Along the way you will be rewarded with stunning views of the rolling landscape covered by evergreen fauna, Kigezi hills among other attractions. You will have lunch along the way. You will reach the park in the late afternoon and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up very early, have breakfast and embark on your second morning game drive with a chance to spot some of the animals you missed on the first game drive. This game drive will be conducted in Ishasha sector; here you will have a chance to witness the famous tree climbing lions. In addition to the tree climbing lions you will also spot a variety of wildlife animals like buffalos, elephants, impalas, zebras, bush bucks among others. Following the game drive you will embark on your journey to Volcanoes National park in Rwanda. Along the way you will be rewarded with stunning views of the rolling landscape covered by evergreen fauna, Kigezi hills among other attractions. You will have lunch along the way. You will reach the park in the late afternoon and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park Wake up very early, have breakfast and carry your packed lunch and make your way to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about rules and guidelines about gorilla trekking. In Volcanoes national park briefing is held at 7:00am and is led by park ranger guides. After the briefing you are divided into groups of 8 individuals and each group is allocated a gorilla family to trek and an experienced park ranger guide. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park lasts for 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas on the tracking day. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will have an hour to spend with them. Take the time to observe them and record photos or videos. Following your one hour with the gentle gaints you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet your driver guide to embark on your transfer back to the lodge for some relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast meet your driver guide and drive back to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about golden monkey trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a golden monkey group to trek and an experienced ranger guide to accompany you into the jungle. Golden monkeys are critically endangered primates found only in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They survive by eating bamboo shoots and other vegetation. Unlike gorillas, golden monkeys are very playful and enjoy flash photography. Once you locate them you will have an hour to spend with them as you observe them going through their daily activities. After an hour with the golden monkeys you will hike back to the starting point to meet your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for lunch. After some relaxation and lunch you will depart for Iby’iwacu cultural tour. The Center showcases Rwanda's diverse tribes' cultural heritage. Expect musical performances, dance, and drama. You will also have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs if you so desire. You can also dress up in traditional costumes and join the performers. After the cultural tour you will head back to the lodge for dinner overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, depart your lodge and meet your driver guide to embark on your journey to Kigali. The journey takes three hours’ drive, but you will be rewarded with the beautiful rolling hills of Rwanda's countryside as well as vast tea plantations. Upon arrival in Kigali you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial to learn more about the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Following a visit to genocide memorial you be driven to Kigali international airport to catch your flight back to your home country.
